I'm on my 5th g body now so I'm familiar with how slow the windows can move. However, my latest Regal seems especially slow. The battery is sound. I haven't been able to check what voltage I'm getting at the motor yet as the weather has been crappy lately.
Has anyone worked on speeding up the windows? I read how someone used motors from another car, but I was wondering if anyone has tried up sizing the hot lead to the motors? Also, has anyone replaced a working, slow motor with a new one to time the difference? I'm going to be replacing the doors in April and will be able to experiment, but I don't want to recreate the wheel here.

I bet the combination of window weight, age of window seals, and general wear/age are stacking up to make it sluggish.

I have found that pulling the door panels and greasing the regulator with white grease usually speeds them up. Also, spray the runners good with WD40.

My door panels are off the car cuz the interior was getting finished up while I was awaiting the shipment of the quiet Autoloc dual actuators for my shaved door kit (the regular solenoids in these kits are freaking loud and sound "like a gun going off")..... anyways, I noticed that the passenger side window was slower than the driver's side.

I too have owned 5 of these cars and have had the slow window problem myself. So it was just a feasible option to replace both power window motors now, while the door panels are not installed yet. They cost me about $80 a piece. They are both a lot faster than the old ones.

You might find 'em a bit cheaper, as low as $35 US each if I remember correctly on Ebay, if you can wait for them to be shipped. I'd say it's a great upgrade because they all end up getting far too slow.

Hey 454muscle, what brand motors did you buy? I've seen a couple of them.

I will be replacing the doors prior to my repaint and probably will just replace both motors as well as the wiring, tearing everything out of the current doors and swapping or replacing them on the new doors, which are non-powered. I wish I had access to some good wiring drawings and parts boms for these cars.

Pmoore4321, does it sound/feel like the window clinking around? Both doors? Is it just when they are all the way down or do it when half way down or greater? If they do it when the windows are half down or more, roll them down and see if it still rattles when you push, pull, and hold it steady. It sounds like the window channel itself is loose. When the window is closed, it stresses the door and keeps the window from rattling around. It's been awhile since I've had g body doors apart, but I seem to remember some kind of adjustable bumpers in them?

In any case, you would need to pull the interior door panel off and take a look and a ride.

I remember on my last Regal, the bottom of the doors were so rusted that they would rattle like crazy with the window down. I think it was because the points where the window motor and channels mounted to had lost so much structural integrity that the glass could wiggle around while driving. The fix was adjusting the volume knob on the radio.

What causes the door to rattle when it is closed with the window down? My driver door glass rattles. Whats the fix?
Broken or missing "door glass guides".

Here is one, you might find other's on Ebay.

Really? I've only seen one kind everywhere I looked, and it seemed generic. I figured it's better than a used one, obviously
Here in Canada, I called a few parts stores and they all had only one in stock, generic to both sides, and would have had to order the other one in. Once location of Canadian Tire (our generic car parts store everywhere) had 2 in stock (and they were all $80 a pop everywhere) so that's what I purchased. Came in a brown box, unmarked. So generic, as far as I can tell.

By the way, they all look the same too lol. These one's are $40 + shipping:

Haha...that's funny. I will have to remember that one.

I know it's the driver door only that rattles and I know it does it when the window is completely down. I am not sure about with the window half way up. I am going to check it out this weekend if I have some time. I figure I will grease the window regulators when I have it torn down. I sure would like to put some faster motors in the windows, but I need to ease up on the check book.

454muscle, I guess you beat me to a post. I bet that piece you posted is broken on my driver door. I will take the panel off the door this weekend and give it a tune up.

HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH MINES I FOUND A SITE CALLED WWW.PartsPros.com THEY HAVE THEM OF 24.95 WITH A YEAR WARRANTY I ALSO GOT ME THE Door Lock Actuator THOSE WERE 30 BUCKS EACH AND THEY WORK GREAT. I WOULD RECOMEND THEM FOR ANYONE WITH WINDOW AND DOOR LOCK PROBLEMS. THEY COOL THING IS SHIPPING IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT YOU ORDER OR HOW HEAVY IT IS . IT STILL 8.95 ANYWERE IN THE USA

To help speed them up/increase the ease of operation, clean all the old grease out of the tracks, and replace it with fresh grease. Rebuilding/replacing the motors certainly will help as well, but try servicing the tracks first.

If your window rattles in the full up position, you need the clips pictured above.

If your window rattles while lowered, than your regulator is worn, and there isn't much of a fix for it other than replacing them.
