anyone with a 231 have the oil pan gasket, just suddenly spring a really bad leak?
my car dumped a quart or more of oil on the ground, this morning, after PT. Looks like its leaking from the front of the oil pan gasket surface

Oil pans ussually weep oil, loosing that much oil at one time I would look at the filter or timing chain cover.

My wasn't sudden or a lot, but mine did leak. I just changed it. I used the blue rubber fel-pro kind. No leak anymore. Just make sure you get the sealing surfaces really clean and as free of oil as possible, and you should be fine.

Are you sure it's not the filter though? They can sometimes fool you.

i honestly havent climbed under there yet. gotta wait till 1700 to take off my acu's first.......but it looked like it was squirting out of the top of the gasket lip on the oil pan
it was leaking BAD
i left an almost solid line of oil up the street and back, when i left this morning, and circled around down the street. I got lucky, catching it before running it dry.
lord im praying that it isnt the timing cover. I really dont wanna deal with all that work this weekend. I was just gonna do my rear suspension this weekend, easy work.

its definitely the oil pan
the front (passenger side) corner is bent down, with the gasket kinda hanging out.
I have no idea how that happened, i dont even see how it could happen. Looks like someone pryed the corner down with a pry bar
