I have an ac equipped 79 malibu. I'm using a 2007 lq4 with ac compressor. I am wondering what I need to connect the two systems.
I know the old is r12 and the new is r134a. I have all new components except for the compressor. Also what is the plug on the back of the compressor?

The switch is for High Pressure disconnect. It tells the ECM to shut off the clutch if the pressure gets to high. Depending on where you mount the compressor, I would guess your going to have to get a set of hoses made. You can get a o-ring and seal kit from Rock auto for under $8 that had everything you will need. You will also have to flush out all the old mineral oil in the system and add the approved amount of PAG synthetic oil.

Thanks. All of my components are new except the compressor. So there should be no residual oil from the r12. But what do you flush a system with? And who makes adapter hoses?

When I did the serp belt drive on my El Camino I bought a hose for a 92 firebird and cut the other ends off my old hoses. AC flush is available at most auto parts stores by the gallon. I bought a $40 flush kit off Amazon.

This is what hoses I have from the new compressor . One full hose and one piece of hose. I have an old style accumulator with line kit, condenser, and evaporator. I just have to connect it all together and probably need a metering device.
