I was looking for feedback from someone who changed their stock front springs in a G-body and used Moog 5660 or 5602 springs with the stock spindles cause I am curious on height measurement (same, higher, lower & by how much ) once their installed and if possible pics. I'll be doing bushings and joints so the springs will be out anyways ,I found a good chart but it's still a chart and since its a pain to do front coil springs on the ground I want to try to do it once and be done with it .

5662 springs (uncut), stock spindles, SBC engine with iron heads and alum intake, full A/C, and 225/60/14" tires.

I run the 5660's and took a coil out to drop 2 inches. Amazing handling and comfortable ride.

Could you guys measure the fender lip height at the center of the wheel and post it along with your tire size in the pics so I can figure what my height will be since I have a 225 70 15 up front and they are 27.3 inches tall and my wheel well height now is 28 1/2 and I would like to be about 1 inch or so lower . Thanks for posting the pics Doug, I'm the one that sold you the headers did you get them on yet ? Did they fit ok ?

I haven't measured mine in a long time, but it dropped about 3/4" to 1". The drop will depend on engine size and options (weight). DO IT, YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT. Never met anyone who did.

Which springs did you use the 5660 or the 5662 ?
Mine is a 87 Elcamino small block , iron heads , a/c just that with the 225 70 15 they fill the wheel well good but my fender height is at 28 1/2 so if I could drop it around the 3/4-1 inch drop that would be good. Thanks

Ray I can't do any measuring, that was my old 84 that is now gone. I have the springs in my 86 but haven't yet dropped the motor in. Thus, the second question is I still haven't got the headers on but soon hope to.

They sure look purty on the engine on the engine stand though. See my pic in the top right corner 😀

i have the 5660's in both my 86 t-top and 84 hard top. the t-top has aluminum heads so it sits at about stock. the 84 with the heavy iron headed motor dropped about a inch (my stockers were so sagged it accually lifted my car lol)

also the 5660's slide right in with almost no greif, much easier then the stockers

stock spring is on the left and 5660 is on the right

Here is a before and after pic. My motor uses iron heads and i don't have an AC pump, condenser, and any of the smog system. I drove it for a month the way it was in the first pic, and after not getting the springs to settle very much, I went back in and took one coil out. I measured it and the front and rear were at the same height (rear springs are new variable rate stock cargo springs). It dropped two inches from that and it rides like a dream now. I'm going to be trying a set of A body rear springs soon to level it all out.
