Not sure if this is the right section to ask, but I'm wanting to put a little roll cage setup in my 86 Cutlass.

I found this site: http://www.go-fast-parts.com/5709200.html
It say it's only $50 but it also says it's only the "main hoop". So I need someone that knows roll cage terminology. I'm thinking the main hoop is just the bar that goes up behind the front seats? If so that would be perfect as this will be probably spend 3/4 of it's time on the road, the rest on the track.

So is this a good deal? Any advice on the subject is appreciated.

That would be correct thats the main hoop. You need a strut kit the bars that run from that to the back of car and down the front. Competition engineering sells a kit along with s&w chassie. Im sure there is others. I used a comp kit and bent the bars to my likeing but for astreet car that you want to use the back seat no good. Remember for it to be done right it has to be welded to the frame.

Also keep in mind that you need a minimum of a 6 point roll bar to even be considered legal for racing. A 4 point roll bar does no good other than to give you a place to mount a racing harness.

i used s @ w race cars roll cages.the fit great every time.

S&W, A.R.T., etc.... all are great kits. But keep in mind that if you want a quality job done these are not really direct fits. I mean, they fit but I would suggest having a reputable shop that can bend and manipulate the bars a little to a more custom fit and much better appearance to install them for ya.
This is one of them cases where you will get what you pay for in the installation department.

I picked a new one up from a guy on craigslist for $70 its from summit still has the shipping label on it. Its a 6 point cage.
