When i brought this car home today, it was a complete mess with wiring. It still looks bad, but ive gotten some of the wires sorted out. If it has anything to do with the AC UNIT, I DONT WANT IT !!! All i want is what i need to make the car run properly, heat, and lights. Help me out

Image #1 - I believe this has to do with the ac correct? Cut it off?

Image #2 - I have no clue what this is, the bolt on unit behind the dizzy. What is it, do i need it? A few of the wires are cut.

Image #3 - I know two of them go onto the blower motor, not sure about the others?

Image #4 - I just restored an 80 malibu and havent ever seen this, looks like a tps sensor though???

Any help would be appreciated, thanks !!!

#2 I think is part of the computer control stuff.

#1 is A/C cutoff
#2 Not sure. Can't say I've ever seen that. Some kind of relay maybe block heater??
#3 You need it all. the empty plug is for the fan resistor that goes in the open hole there. Purple wire goes next plug over, ground is layin on top of the relay.
#4 Is computer timing, I see a vacume advance so not needed.

So it already has an hei distributor? So I could just unplug the computer, put and non electronic carb on and then run it like an early 80s motor without anything electrical other than the obvious plugs like alternator plug correct?

1. Is the a/c cutoff.

2. Looks like someone moved a relay there, its not a stock setup.

3. Those wires are for the fan and hvac.

4. That is the ESC module for computer controlled timing.

Seeing how messed up that wiring is, I would have walked away from that mess. 1980 was the only year in the 80s that didn't have computer control except CA.

Yes. The only other computer sh*t would be the torque converter, but by the looks of it I'm sure it's prolly unpluged anyway. Even if it isn't it's not an issue.

so then my plan is too unplug the main computer from the kick panel. rid the bay of all of the sensors. Install a qjet factory carb and an hei dizzy. Then ill be able to control everything like old fashion right? Im also going to put in an electric choke on the quadrajet, do i need to run an ignition relay, or can i just run the electronic choke straight to the batterY?

Yep pull the plugs. Looks like you already have the HEI with the vacume advance. For the choke all you need is a 12-volt power source that turns on when the key is in the "ON" position. I go straight to the fuse box for this. There are lots of xtra spots (marked batt) in there for this, use a test light to make sure it switches on & off with the key. Make sure to put a 20 amp fuse holder in line to be safe.

kick *ss. Im going to do this transfer this weekend. If i unplug the computer, will i still have a blower motor and lights corrrect? it just gets rid of the tps, and emission bs right?
