What back spacing will I need to run 15x8 and 15x7 wheels on a 80' cutlass? The factory wheels have like a 3.5" back spacing and it seems anymore then that they will rub the frame. The fact wheels are 14". The inner wheel wells in the back seems to flare out towards the wheel and if I run a tire like 255/60/15 it looks like it may rub with anything more then a 3.5" bs. This is going by eye. If anyone has 15" wheels ans a tire about the size stated above let me know what backspacing your running.

here what i run

i have a 86 cutlass with the 14 inch wheels and they are 7 inchs wide ans i run a 215/70/14 and the clear and fill in the wheel well very good

i have a 79 cutlass with 15x8 corvette rallys in the rear with 4inches of back spacing .with a set of 255-60-15 and the fronts are 15x6 with 3.50 ich back spacing with a set of 215-60 -15 . they fit fine with plenty of room.

The most bs you really should run on a gbody is 4". This brings the wheel far enough out from the inner wheel house and frame that you can run whatever size tire you want, be it on a 15x7, 15x10, 17x10, whatever.

That is the answer I was looking for thanks. It just seemed to me that whit the stock supension that anything over like 3" of back spacing would hit the frame in the rear or wheel housing. But I must be looking at it wrong.

Rims

I Have a 88 cutlass and i run welds 15x8r w-3&1/2 backspacing with bfs 245/60 15s front and 15x10r w-4&1/2 backspacing with bfs 295/50 15 in the rear only the front rubs on really sharp turns,no probs in the rear, thats as big as you can get on a stock setup.
