So going through some things in the garage I came across an item I think the group here would like but I wanted to give a background on it. When I sold my 84 Cutlass 18 years ago it was to buy a 67 Cutlass and have money to fix it up.. I worked in a heavy equipment bodyshop painting semi's and dump trucks. My family and friends thought I was nuts. But it turned out good and I had it for a long time. But this car had a unique item on it
In the back you can see my 84 , the only pic of both of them I have

The unique item was a shock box. It was mounted on the metal wheelwell up under the fender.. it is A primitive car alarm that electrified the car body. It had wires that went down to a hidden toggle switch. The wires were cut but in place. It had a sticker dated 1961 but has since fallen off . I was told what it was by an old mechanic at the former Oldsmobile dealer. I never tested it but never got rid of it and have never seen another. Has anyone else ever seen one of theseIMG_20181222_155742.jpgIMG_20181222_155734.jpgIMG_20181222_155728.jpgIMG_20181222_155724.jpg

Wow, love the old school slotted screws in the box.
And for those that asked, could we have a demo of how it works, please?😊

I know I wanted to electrify a car a long time ago but had never seen anything related to actually doing it.
Any info on what kind of voltage or amps it puts out?

The mechanic that told me what it was said they werent available for long from accidently killing people. I opened it many years ago but don't remember for sure what the setup was in it. . I couldn't imagine reaching up under the bumper for a toggle switch and accidentally bumping the car. Tomorrow I'll take the cover off and post some pics of the inside. I wish I could find out more about it myself, but it would be lawsuit heaven today

I am thinking of a coil similar to a Model A that would bite the crap out of you. Maybe an early capacitor
