In light of the fact that im putting a somewhat stock1988 454 in my elcamino (mild torqey truck type cam, manifold and carb) Do I need headers? if so are block huggers Ok in a g-body?, full length are sooooo pricey for this application.
I dont mean to be a post wh*re, but I am getting some great advice here! Thanks Greg

i dont know about shorty headers but i have hooker super comps on my 502. only thing is you have to is move a couple brake lines a little bit cuz the header will end up touching the line otherwise

What did the hookers cost you, and do they loop around your steering column? thanks

I would probably go ahead with the shorties in your application. The ground clearence is more important in a mild street car than the minimal power gain you will see given your engine combination. I know a lot of people may disagree with me, but I am a big fan of shorties on milder cars because of the PITA the old Hedman Headers were on my AMC Spirit with a 360 swap. I switched them to long tube Hooker Super Comp's, but am still not a huge fan of them because of ground clearence issues ( but they are better than the Hedmans in this regard). I have used Edelbrock shorties on my SBC G body, and also used shortie Hooker Comp's in a 406 3rd gen F body I did for a friend. The ground clearence was good in both cases.

Is a mini starter mandatory with the shortys? and would you wrap them?
