I have an an 86 cutlass supreme with a sbc in it already. I plan on putting a 454 into it, was just wondering whats going to be involved in the install before i dive in. I already removed the ac/heater box and the power steering when I put the smaal block in.

Have an 82 with a BBC. Take the mounts off the side of the sb, put them on the big block and put it in. Moroso(and others) makes solid mounts also Most likely a rad upgrade is in order(depending on usage). Some stock exhaust manifolds will work but headers are better(2241 Hooker). Will need to modify the trans crossmember for dual exhaust(if street driven) or buy a new one. Overall it is an easy swap. hood clearance can be an issue depending on carb/intake combo. front springs may need changed. Sure I'm forgeting something but you just have to learn as you go.

It should mount in the same spot as the small black with out clearence problems?Everything else has been changed already after market cross member 3core aluminum rad with electric fan. Going to need a hood though.

Go to http://www.popularmechanics.com/automot ... 71196.html They did a bbc into an 84 Cutlass back in March '98. I'm not saying to copy that build as they did a lot of things I would've done differantly. But, when it was built, that was how they did it. Much better ways today.
