I was given my el camino to me years ago by my father

He had decided to purchase a generic parts store roll on bed liner

It has been on the elky since. It's starting to get sun faded. Turned gray instead of the normal black

What options do I have in fixing this. While I don't mind the bed liner I realize that it should actually have had a good one installed versus this cheap stuff

Spend the extra money for a rhino liner. I’ve had mine for about 10 years and looks great. Before shows it can be cleaned up with tire shine and looks like a million bucks! The bed will outlast the whole car lol

I have seen El C with Rhino liner sprayed an 1" up on the side of the bed and in the hourglass bed shape. I am not a fan of the rhino like coatings as the do fade here in the Florida sun and by buddy had his new truck bed sprayed and they screwed it up. Still looks like crap. Send pics after its done

We've repaired a few beds at work that were lined and the repair went into the liner, the local liner company actually sprays an adhesion promoter on the old liner to make the new coat adhere to the older one.maybe approach a liner company near you about, the respray and your uv concerns.in that part of the country they'd have an idea about the longevity of their product etc etc.

A tintable liner would be a good replacement but not sure the labor involved removing the old stuff.

You probably need to spray in a new liner. Depending on which one you use, you may have to scrape out the old liner.

I have tinted U-Pol Raptor Liner in my pickup truck bed and I love it. It's been very durable so far. It's not rubbery at all like some other liners, it feels like a hard plastic. It's also much less expensive than Line-X, which would've been my second choice. Several of my friends have the Raptor Liner in their trucks too and theirs still look great. I'll attach a picture of mine.

I would avoid the duplicolor roll in, I used it on one of my old Chevy trucks and it was thin and rubbery like plasti dip. Also I'd avoid Herculiner, my uncle had it in his Jeep tub and while it was somewhat durable it looked like crap. I like Line X, but it is just too expensive. Rhino liner felt too rubbery for me to like it.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

I'm pretty sure he used herculiner on it
It's fine with me. But it's turning gray
I'd like to restore it to the original black or replace it

Like I said...my 81 has the rhino and after 13 years looks great. Fades a little in the sun but spraying some tire shine on it makes it turn jet black again.

I plan on using Raptor for my bed in the Spring. I recently picked up a '13 Silverado short bed and the bed is like brand new. Ive had spray in liners before but I figured it would be much cheaper if I did it myself. What had to be done as far as tinting it ? My trucks white. Also what did you use as far as air pressure ? Ive been spraying 3M Body Schutz for years and I crank the pressure up to get it smoother. Same thing with the Raptor ?

Thanks for the insight

Regarding the tire shine on the bedliner once it starts to fade. Does that leave a oily or wetness to it?
