Mine is a 1987 GMC Caballero in 2 tone blue: light blue roof, dark blue body & bed. Because the bed has lots of scratches, but the car is very original, I'm looking for recommendations to either repaint the bed or have Line-X black bedliner installed. What will this do to the vehicle's value? However, I would like to be able to use the bed without adding more scratches. Research on Rhino Liner did not show good results.

If you have a very low mileage Elky, in show condition, that you are storing as an investment, then I would not line the bed. Otherwise, I think installing a LIneX bed will probably add value. I have LineX in my Elky, and it has been appraised at over $15K. If you are going to use the Elky, then lining it is a good idea. It will hide all of the current scratches and dings, and will help prevent future damage.

One other alternative is to get a Bed Mat. They will help prevent future damage to the floor of the bed, and keeps stuff from sliding around. The negative of them is that the scratches will still be there, and if not repaired will start to rust under the mat. Another negative of the mat is that you cannot slide anything into the bed- they are that "sticky".
