i wish to locate and destroy whatever it is that makes the long beep when the headlights are left on after the car is off. who can tell me where i can find it, what it looks like, and how to kill it. or which wire going to the switch i can cut. thanks and its an 84 supreme

Hmmmm, I think there is one main chime module that controls every annoying noise. Dont know where it is though. If know one here can tell you where it is, try using an automotive stethiscope to try to narrow down the location of the noise. Then when you think you are close start unpluggin anything in the area. If it comes through speakers, then there is a module wired into the radio, dont know if this will help in that case.

You will probably have to take a bunch of stuff out under the dash no matter what, if you know where it is or dont.

I ditched mine over 10 years ago when it would not shut up!!! Even with the doors shut, it would sit there and chime away. Anyhow, on my 85, it was a red box that plugged in under the dash on the driver's side. I believe it was about 4 inches long by 3 inches wide and 1 inch thick. The one on my dad's 1980 Cadillac was much smaller, gray and I forget where that one was. On an 84 Camaro it was a black box the size of the one in my 85 Cutlass. I still have all 3 of them, but my house looks like the set of Sanford and Son, so I have little chance of ever finding it. On the plus side, most of the clutter is G body related, so I have plenty of spare parts!
