been awhile since i've posted or even looked around the place, multiple computers makes you forget your usual haunts haha. the cutlass hasnt changed much, or at all. blown brake line that i just can't seem to get to means it hasnt left the yard in like a year. this year i was bound and determined to be driving the buick, came in the yard 4 years ago and hasnt set a tire on pavement since. reringed and honed a 70 350 from a lesabre, put a factory 4 barrel intake on it then backed it with a muncie m20 like 2 years ago then it got moved off to the side for winter and just sat. got it lit this year after rebuilding the carb, got exhaust on it, filled it with coolant and then watched it pour back out...seems i was braindead and put the head gaskets on upside down so ripped off the top end, got new head gaskets but not a new intake tray, well the coolant stayed inside the engine this time except the majority was in the oil pan which i didnt realize right away, until it seized of course. so needless to say its all back out again, main bearings got angry but since it seized at idle theres no major damage, measured the crank every which way and it looks fine, so i'm getting all new bearings, gasket set, timing set, and go up a step or 2 with the cam. seems that lesabre had very few miles, plastic teeth on the cam gear still look excellent and even after my dumbass using coolant as oil the rod bearings werent wasted. so with any luck and if i stop being an idiot maybe i will drive it before snow flies.
both cars have water leaks and the floors are paying the price so i need to get on that asap but considering theyre parked on dirt, leaves, or grass 24/7 the underneaths havent changed much. cutlass had dinol tuffcoat done when new and the buick has ziebart, both products are continuing to save these 2 from iron oxide death.
