I registered up here last year to get a little information on the car I inherited from my grandfather, a 1986 Pontiac Bonneville V6. The car's been in my possession for a few years but until recently I was more in the tuner scene working on supercharging my Pontiac G5 (amongst other things). Cut a long story short, I put that kiddie stuff behind me and want to focus more on this G body. The car is very clean with only 54k miles on her, completely stock. I remember reading up on how modding this motor is a waste of time, but there are a few things I would still like to do. One of which would be installing the Transgo TH200 shift kit. My biggest worry about this is potentially shocking the transmission with new oil and screwing it up some. It does have relatively low mileage, but the years are there. Is this safe, and are the benefits worth the work?

I would also like to upgrade the rear diff, preferably go Posi as well. What I have, what's available, what fits and how to do it I haven't a clue.

Some springs might be in the cards too. I remember reading how the Monte SS springs fit nicely and are a little stiffer, although this is not all that high up on my To Do list. I'd love to find the 4 bbl from the 4.1 Monte, but not a single one has turned up in the year I spent procrastinating about finding one lol

All that aside, the first thing that I'd like to address is replacing all the fluids. From oil, to power steering, brake, coolant, diff and possibly even transmission. I'm not sure when the last of any of these have been done, so I'd like to play it safe and get them all checked off at once.

I should be posting here a little more regularly to pool together some tips & knowledge before turning any bolts. Peace and love for now.
