Hey guys and gals

I had an idea for creating this thread to be an ongoing product listing or index for us of products that you've used that are as good as or better than advertised.

In this day and age of constantly being bombarded by advertising of millions of products, it's sometimes difficult to wade through all the BS and find a product that truly works.

This can be as simple as a quality wax, a cleaning product, a tire shine, a type of paint, or a rust neutralizer. It doesn't matter. The possibilities are endless!

I've already consulted with Chris the administrator and got his blessing that there won't be any legal complications with doing this. So feel free and plug the product you've used along with a short description of what you used it on and how, a pic or two of the product, and before and after pics if you like.

This should be about products you've used personally (no "I heard from a friend's wife's buddy"), and please, try and keep this thread POSITIVE. I'd hate to see it deteriorate into quarrelling between members about "this product works, no it doesn't, it's crap". We all have opinions on everything, let's try and keep them to ourselves and respect everyone else's.

With that being said, I think this has the potential to be a great resource at hand for all of us. I'll start us off...

Mothers Mag and Aluminum polish.
I've used this product for years with great results on my polished aluminum mag wheels, but I was recently reminded just how good it works. I used it to polish up and restore the shine on the bumpers and chrome trim that was neglected by the PO on my recently purchased Cutlass.
This is almost a multi-use product that is gentle enough to use on soft metals like aluminum and brass but works well on chrome, chromed plastic, and even to buff out a small scratch in paint in a pinch. Works as advertised. Highly recommend.

So there you go. It's as simple as that. Let's see what you guys love to use, and let's build an ongoing product listing!

LA's Totally Awesome Purple Blast degreaser.
A member of another forum turned me on to this. The only place I've ever seen it sold is the Dollar Tree. Costs a buck and works every bit as good, if not better than Castrol Super Clean. So since I've never actually seen it advertised, I can definitely say that it works better than claimed.😉 Here's a dirty little fact; Working on cars is dirty work. The floor of my shower had some grease buildup that no regular bathroom/kitchen cleaner would cut. Sprayed some Purple Blast on there and let it sit for a few minute, some light scrubbing and my shower floor was cleaner than it had been in 15 years. Seriously, this is good stuff.

Good stuff. Anyone got anything that works well to clean a weather worn and very dirty WHITE vinyl top?

I'd be interested to hear about anything that cleans hard water spots from glass.

The Purple Blast I posted works really good -- especially for a buck. The best I've ever used was called Steam and I think it was a Gumout product and was in a black can. I haven't seen it in a few years though so I'm not sure it's still made. Worked outstanding on a slightly warm engine.

Wesley's bleach white works wonders. Made for white lettered tires but i used it on a white vinyl top a few years back and it did amazing.
