Body ground

Removed heater core and there was a ground strap hooked too the hold down on the core,naturaly I forgot to reinstall when I put it back together, it looked factory installed ,but the reason ?,anybody know why,????

It was to discharge static electricity in the heater core, to help stop electrolysis in the cooling system.

So if I hook it up to the pipe coming in or out ,it would do the same thing ??
