I Just snagged my 84 regal host for my build project. A Regal with a
Moderate bUild up Buick 455. The Only hardcore damage on the car
is surface rust and s shotty hole in the end of the rr frame rail after the axle and the rear two body mounts rusted through.

Does anyone Have any experience repairing these body mounts. Im sure
I can sub in a chunk of steel to repair the frame.

Advice appreciated

Is it rotted through on the frame or body? If it is the frame, this website has what you need.http://www.gbodyparts.com/product_i...d=619&osCsid=813b190ad66270af3a774b612bb412b6

There's a guy on ebay that sells those as well in a couple different sizes depending how opened up the holes are.

If your rails are rotted more than just the body mount area, check out this page:

I think it was the body mounts on the body side and the sheet metal there is rusted and rotted out. I'm gonna have to get it back down to the shop and onto the hoist to check it again. the frame is just on the outside of the
real left rail thats rusted through, which im pretty sure if i peeled the body off the frame i could fix pretty easy with the right materials. just cut back the junk with the plasma torch and weld in some new pcs.
I'll take some pics if i can when i get it up on the hoist.

i just finished a similar job on my 85 cutlass about 2 months ago. One of the body mounts on the rear passenger side had completely rotted out the area around it. Basically i took it to a buddy's shop and we cut out the rotted area and replaced it with new pieces. It turned out so good that we decided to do the otherside as well for good measure.

These g body's are known for the rear frame rail rott. But i've seen some really impressive patch work done over the years.

I had a guy quote me that it would take $1000 in a shop to fix just the passenger side. I ended up giving my buddy 200 bucks for use of his shop that day and we did both sides. Now it is like new.

Good luck with it. I can get some pictures of my fixed frame rails if you want some for reference. Cheers.

i didn't buy actual pre made peices. i just fabricated some new plating and reinforced the frame rails around the body mount. On the passenger side i had to put in some reinforcment in the body and new sheet metal where the body mount attached.

I don't consider it the best job cosmetic wise, but after spraying it all down with undercoating it looks factory.

Don't be afraid to dig into it, once you get in there it goes alot smoother than expected. Cheers.

If your stuck doing a lot of welding id box the frame while your at it stiffens the car up a lot.

Thanks Guys

I think i'm gonna use some 10 or 12 gauge sheet for the bodu and i'll get some heavy steel for the frame, and yes i was planning on boxing in some stretches of the fram to stiffin it up a little more for the big block.

Did you remove the body from the frame for those repairs or was it possible to keep it all in?
and if ya did peel it off what are some small things that i might miss on spereration?
