Im finally starting my bodywork today. It takes forever to take off the paint with a orbital sander. I shouldve spent the money on a DA. Anyway I started off sanding the trunk and Im working my way forward. Everything that wasnt masked and painted is getting replaced..(TAIL lIGHTS)

I still have 2 patch spots to take care of. Both are in front of the rear quarters.

Other than that the body is very straight with a small nick or 2. When I get to the hood, Im molding in a 2 or 4in cowl scoop.
Let me know what you guys think as I move forward.

You might as well take that trunk lid off and throw it in the scrap pile with the rust along the bottom and the lock cylinder punched out like that... Unless you're planning on shaving it.

what kind of primer you using? compressor size? gun type? looks like a good start! :wax:
Thanks. That there is the Summit brand 2k surfacer in grey. Im using a 60 gallon Craftsman Compressor with IIRC 5 or 6 HP. Im using a Devilbiss Finish Line 3 HVLP with a 1.8 tip and needle. And yes, Im painting it outdoors now. When I get to the BC/CC stage then Im going to a garage or renting a booth.

As far as the trunk goes, I plan on picking up the one "pimplogic" has for sale with the spoiler. If I had access to a welder, I'd cut it out and weld in a new patch. Rust really isnt that bad. If you can weld theres nothing to stop you!

The only thing I have left to do is sand the front fenders, hood and header panel and I should have the whole body in primer tomorrow evening!

number one rule, do bodywork with crappy wheels on the car. it not worth any chances with chemicals

Honestly, I was just lazy and didnt want to. I have adapters on there, so thats just something extra to do when putting those wheels back on. I maed sure I covered them up good though.
