ugh ok so i pressed the brake pedal and it goes to the floor and the brake light comes on. since i had the door open i can hear a hissing when i press the pedal.

im thinking the booster went bad but i know the brake light comes on when the pressure is off in the system like when a wheel cylinder goes bad and the system leaks. nothing in theory should have started leaking...ugh...

this better be the booster only. i dont have time to mess with the brakes.

I've had master cylinders go out and make a hissing sound and have the brake light come on

If the booster goes bad it will make the pedal firm, not go to the floor. Look for leaks.

Check for fluid leaking out the back of the master cylinder and running down the booster. Did not know the pedal got firm when the booster went bad. Learned something new!

Pump your brakes a few times with your car off. Rock hard. That's what the pedal feels like when the booster fails.

Look at the back sides of your rear tires for fluid (wheel cylinder), along the driver side frame rail in between the front and rear wheels (rusted line) and like mentioned before me, look for fluid coming from inbetween the master cylinder and the brake booster (master cylinder).

If you don't see any leaks, are there any new parts in your braking system? If so, maybe it's not bled properly.

i think i popped a wheel cylinder.

oh man i hate those damn things! they're impossible to get back in.

stupid clips....why couldnt they just bolt them in? thats right the engineer was getting back at the mechanic that banged his wife...ugh.

 That must have happened alot!

sure did, ever tried changing the turn signal bulbs on a 1st gen taurus? you need the hands of a baby and a 2nd elbow to do it.

engineers hate mechanics. i swear they do. half the crap they draw up either doesnt make any sense or makes working on something such a PITA you dont want to deal with it and try passing the work order onto someone else.

like why would they engineer a block for the taurus that allowed oil to spill all over the starter when you removed the filter? that's so stupid! you cant prevent it either unless you completely wrap the starter up in plastic sheeting or something.

Ha ha. Try changing the front passenger turn signal on a Malibu.
