why not just replace or fix the power antenna motor and have it be done right? Typically if your antenna motor is running while the radio is on and the mast isn't up, its a broken nylon drive cord, these don't cost much to buy.............just some time to pull the motor, take it apart and put new cord in it. Do it right first time and youll be happier.
True. The motor won't ever see the tension switch activate to shut off the motor and run all day. Unplug it until you can get a new one. I suggest you try getting an entirely new tube/antenna top section for quicker replacement instead of buying a complete new one with motor (which is discontinued from GM). The mast assembly is much cheaper anyway and likely still available. p/n 22048583. Changing it out is a beeyotch to get the assembly in and out from the car, but not as terrible as one might think. $154 list price from GM, but Amazon.com has them for 70 bucks. Cheapest place I've found.
