ok i have somebody in S.C. that want to sale me a buick 455 engine with a 400 trany to go with it. but i need to know will it fit in my 85 cutlass supreme. and if not what all i need to my it work.

It will work, but we need to know the engine and trans that is in your car right now to give you more info.

should work but mounts on the frame for the engine will have to be changed. not sure if mounts for the 3.8 buick V6 will work or not. i would guess that they would but i have no idea.

the cross member will work as the mount location for 2004rs and 400s are in the same place. but the driveshaft MAY need to be shortened just a little bit.

this goes beyond what i know is needed in certain swaps as ive never looked into using a th400 or a buick v8. i'm just sorta guessing.

www.v8buick.com has a section specifically for people putting Buick 455s into gbodys. I think its v8buick powered regals.

It will work, however...

An Olds 455 would be much easier to drop into a factory 307 car, and almost no modification is necessary.

A Buick 455 would be much easier to drop into a factory 3.8 V6 car, and only few modifications are necessary...

Putting a Buick 455 in an Olds 307 car will require a lot of parts changing. It will all work, but it'll be a lot more work.

ok then have anybody did it yet. if so please let me know what all i have to do to make it work and the thing i need. thank you

Do you ever read any of the answers to the questions you ask?

They both have advantages and disadvantages. First an Olds 350 will make less power/torque than a Buick 455, why not choose between an Olds 455 and Buick 455. I believe the Buick uses an unreliable oil pump design, but the stock Olds oiling system isn't really good for racing without mods. They both are very torquey engines, which makes them fun on the street. In your situation, the Olds is bolt in with minor changes, the Buick will take a lot more work. I really do not know much more about Buicks to make any more comparisons.
