Hello, I am new to this forum, but I have frequented this forum alot and many of you seem to know what you are talking about. I have chance to buy a 84 cutlass with T-Tops, originally was a diesel. It has 1970 455  bored 30 over with E heads with big valves ported and polished, comp cam, lifters, and roller rockers, performer intake with 750 edelbrock carb, underdrive pulleys, mini starter, and dual electric fan. It also comes with a Jasper built 400 turbo trans with a 2500 stall and B&M shifter. It also has a posi 3.23 in the rear end. The engine has approximatley 3000 miles on it. THe car is rust free and not bad at all. Is this car worth $2000? I am thinking about buying the car and taking the motor and trans out and putting it into my 86 salon and then selling the 84 after I complete the swap. What are your thoughts?

need pics of both... lol

personally id keep the car with the ttops and 455 and sell your salon.

doesnt matter lol,you cant argue practibility if it has a 455

I do not have any pictures at this time of the car, but I do know the car has a few passes on it. Pertaining to the T-Top, I really do not want to get rid of my car because of the shape it is in and it is a salon. Don't get me wrong though I would love to have a T-Top cutlass. You can check out my 86 in my album, here is two pics.

lol, yeah, just keep both, race and cruise one, and daily drive or preserve the nice one.
so bassically, hell yeah id keep it, just keep your other one too.

A 455 for $2000. It will never be worth less than that and depending on what you do to it, will more than likely be worth much more.

Buy it like.... yesterday if you got the money.

You guys are talking me into it, I am thinking I might go pick it up this weekend maybe depending on what else is going on. I have one other question. The guy that has the car is taking his weld wheels and tires off of it and putting a set of monte wheels on it. What is the biggest size of tire I can run on a 15 inch rim without notching the frame. I want to be able to try and keep the car hooked up so I am not squealing the tires every time I get on it. I was thinking of 235/60/15 on a set of 15x8 weld wheels with what backspacing?

I think I know this car. Is it near Noblesville,In? The guy who owns it is my Uncles friend and he has spent near 10,500 or more on this cutlass. He put like 4000 just in the motor. It just needs repaint, but he had parts for the front end(header piece and fender.) I have rode in it and it is fast. I think it runs 12's in the 1/4. Id get it its a steal. Is this the same car? 😛
