Is it possible they sent a rim with a different pad height than your first one, I know they had high,medium and low and it appeared to change the shape of the spokes and possibly the mounting flange area back when I was considering the black ones for my car.

From a spectator's stand point, you'd have a hard time telling the difference if no one told you to look for it. But from an owner's stand point it's a huge difference. Not really something you can ignore after you see it. If it were me, it would bug the sh*t out of me. It would literally drive me crazy driving the car knowing one of my wheels is thinner than the other on one side.
I do hope you get it solved though. It is a nice design.
