i wondered this myself, so i have been doing some reading up on it. im not 100% sure on this info. , but if i understand correctly, the truck rear ends ( im guessing that includes the mini trucks as well ) differential is offset from the center further than a car. if i understand correctly, on both car and truck rears the differential ( pumpkin ) is offset to one side further than the other instead of being exactly centered. but the truck rears are at least a inch more offset than the cars. and if you can find a truck it would need to be cut down anyways, so that theoretcally you could cut it so that the differeential was offset to the car specs, but this is pricey and by the time you did it could just find the correct rear end or even upgrade to a 12 bolt. and of course, theres the whole having to modify the rear end due to different suspension systems like the other poster stated. if anyone who has more info would like to jump in and clear this up for good im interested as well.
