I've got a bunch of heads laying around for small blocks. Got some numbers, got some id sites but don't completely understand them HELP!!!!!!

1st 3927185 so far I've figured out there 69-76 307/327/350 70CC (pair)

2nd 333882 these are supposed to be 74-80 76CC that's all I've got (pair)

3rd 3986388 68-76 307/350 that's it for those (I've only got one)

4th 3973487 71-72 350 75CC (possible used on 71 330/350 lt1) (I've only got 1 of these)

I'm wondering how I know what they are, 993, 441, 487 ect... Is it just in the last numbers of the casting or what? Are the first two (the ones I have pairs of) worth keeping???

Oh yeah, right now Ive got 462624 on mine, there supposed to be 75-86 350/400 76CC's are these other ones better???

So are the 333882 decent then or not worth the time/money to build/modify them?

Honestly, by the time you rework a set of 30-40 year old heads, you could have just bought new ones for the same money and less hassle. Research the Patriot heads, Vortec's, World Products S/R Torquers, Dart Iron Eagle's, etc. Any of those would be a good alternative to rebuilding and porting a set of old heads which are probably really worn out by now.

I have the World heads on my engine, and they are basically a better version of the old 2.02 fuelie "camel hump" heads. They would not be my first choice today, but they aren't bad.

alright. I honestly don't really have any plans for any of them other to find out weather there worth hanging onto or not as I do plan starting to build a big block once it gets nice out. I'm getting short on room these days and just wanted to make sure I wasn't going to get rid of anything I'd regret later. As far as a purpose, it'd just be street if I did do anything with them. Up here where I live we don't have a track closer then about 400 miles (Brainerd MN)
