Alright.... There is no motor in my Cutlass right now. There was a Olds 350 in it, but it was taken out before I bought it. I also bought an '89 Silverado (C1500) and took the newly rebuilt 350 out of it. I totally disassembled, cleaned, and painted the entire motor and added a chrome dress up kit (Valve Covers, Exhaust Headers, Air Cleaner, Oil Pan, and Timing Cover). It's STUPID Clean!!! Here's the problem...The Silverado 350 has a longer TH Transmission, for truck torque, than the Olds 350 TH that I currently have. This affects the drive shaft hook up. So now I have a Show Room motor and an '86 Cutlass Supreme without a motor!!! Where should I start??? Any suggestions?

Well... the obvious place to start would be with the right transmission out of a car and not a truck. A Chevy car TH 350 (short) or a TH 2004R would make it all happy together. The truck, if it's a stock half ton, probably has a TH 700 4R which will not fit without mods.

Make sure the mount plates will work on the Cutlass frame. The motor mounts are very different between the 2. I just did the exact opposite, installed an Olds 350 in a 94 Chevy 1500 Z71 4x4. I welded in the frame mounts in the last time and still need to modify them so they sit down, pain in the butt to get them sitting right. The 700r4 will require mods, see if the car is an OD trans, a 2004r is a lot better than the th200C 3 spd trans. There are arguments which OD trans is better, both have there merits. Your 2004r should except a Chevy engine if dual pattern.

Ive already got the right mounts for the 350 to fit in the Cutlass. Luckily the Cutlass frame has multiple connectors for different mounts already drilled in. I think what Im going to do is sell both of my Transmissions and get a Chevy 350 car Transmission. That way the trans will match up with the motor and hopefully I can use the same drive shaft. But like we all know, there is always something. So I will be updating my struggles as they come. THANKS for the advice.

one thing to note is that the clam shells from the truck engine ae taller and will not work in a g body. you also need the motor mounts for the frame, but i think we covered that. the old 350 transmission should bolt to the truck engine, most have multiple mounting holes the truck transmission could work but it has to be a 2wd and shorten the shaft. onl issue i see is that a truck cam might not be the best for your car.

hey im pretty close to you. how old are you? (your screen name has "young" in it)

That motor suck and won't work. So you can go ahead and send it to me.

But another thing you can do is just swap the tailshaft off of your truck transmission for one off of a car.
