Clock or lighter wiring? Does that cap come of? Orange wire hot at all times? brown would be ground.

Just a guess....

A little more detail is necessary: Is your car a console shift ( I think it is...)? Does it have (or did it have) factory A/C? What colors are all the wires involved? Is there a plug on the back of it? How many wires? Was your car originally gas or diesel?

It does not look familiar to me, so it may be something relevant to the year or trim level of your particular car. I just had the dash and harness out of my 85, and there IS one unused plug back there which I always thought was a nascent organ for console lighting. However, nothing I recall looked like that.

It looks like it might be a warning buzzer for a seatbelt or open door.

I have seen one of those before. But I had no clue what it was for either lol.

Looking at my '78 Pontiac manual, it could be a "low blower delay switch", the wiring section for the A/C has this part with 2 browns and a yellow on the in-car side of things.... looks like it should tie back into the AC control module somehow?

Unsure what it does exactly, except maybe to delay the blower when it goes to low? 😀

Thanks guys, for the help.. i'm not 2 sure what it really is, i've been looking in my 1978 olds manual to find it.. but really cant seem to

i bleive i found it, its the ambient switch, its tied back to the heater controle wires.. not giving me much more then a picture, no wire colors, but its in the area and looks like the culprit
