Whatup. What does the cpv do exactly? Does the valve close when vacuum is applied(when the car is running) or does it open when vacuum is applied? The reason I ask is because I realized that it didn't get transplanted on the 350 when I did the swap. I just connected straight to the ports on the canister. Is this creating a vacuum leak without the valve is what I'm getting at? Or is the valve not needed, and can be hooked up the way I did? Thanks in advance.

I can't for the life of me remember the answer to your question and it's too late to turn my brain on right now but let me at least ask; is this for a 307 equiped Cutlass? Either way you don't really need it. I mean, it doesn't hurt to have it all hooked up ( other than the unsightly mess ), but if you deleted the entire system ( but at least keep you gas tank vented ), the worst that could happen would be the smell of fuel when you shut your car down and it sits for a bit. Personally, I never noticed any fuel smell at all with mine so I left it off when I did my engine swap.

Anyway, here's a pick of the cannister rats nest for an Olds 307; http://www.autozone.com/autozone/repair ... 5&cmpid=cj Look on the very last diagrahm at the bottom of the page.

Nah, my avitar is a pic of my engine. I have a SBC 350. I have the cannister hooked up(which may be wrong because I might have a vacuum leak there because of no valve) and the car kind of stutters a little when I first start it up, but smooths out as it idles. It seems that it would make sense that the valve would be open as the car sits with engine off(no vacuum), then when car is started it would close the valve(because of vacuum), then as you speed up, the valve would open a little letting the fumes enter the intake at the rate the valve opens and closes(vacuum drop and raise). I guess I can plug it and see if it makes a difference, but was wondering if anyone knew the answer first. Thanks for the help DoubleV. I have already been to Autozone.com, they have a lot of info on that site(some people don't know that). I usually go there and google search before I bother asking a dumb question or something here.
