I recently installed a Chevy 305 engine out of a Monte Carlo into my '86 Buick Regal and the brackets for the power steering pump don't seem to line up at all. Do i just need different brackets or a whole new pump/reservoir? Anyone have any pictures of how it installs and what it should look like?

Help us out. What pump and brackets are you using? Obviously GM put power steering pumps on SBCs, so get the brackets that went with the motor you're using. If you're trying to bolt Buick V6 brackets to an SBC, that ain't gonna happen. Get the brackets that go with an SBC in a G-body. All the Saginaw pumps use the same body and mounting points (the reservoirs can be different, but they swap easily), so Chevy brackets should bolt to a pump from a Buick just fine. You probably need to remove the pulley to get the bracket off, however.

I didn't get any brackets or pump with the Chevy 305 when i bought it. I currently have the factory power steering unit still connnected and laying off to the side (from the 307).

I do have a complete power steering unit from a "88 Caprice that i parted out, however, the pulley looks to be twice the size as the original buick pulley.

Anyone have any pictures of what the brackets should look like?

How do you remove the pulleys?

You need a special tool to remove the pulley.

None of the brackets between the Olds 307 and the Chevy 305 are interchangeable.

You're better off just going to the junkyard and getting a complete set-up off another SBC car.

How complete? I have a pump/reservoir/lines/steering shaft from a 1988 Chevrolet Caprice that i owned so i know its in working condition, however the pulley is huge.

Caprice brackets should work. The pulley on the pump needs to match the pulley on the crank.

If you're using headers, you'll need to either make a spacer or buy one from somewhere for the first header bolt on the driver side. It holds the P/S bracket to the head.

If you're using headers, you can get creative like I did and flip the original bolt around.
Ignore where my finger is pointing...
