Small town NY
Not car related at all. My daughter is a full time NYS paramedic. Shes 25 but shes been involved in EMS since she was 19 when she became a volunteer at the local community ambulance. She went on to be an EMT and liked helping people so much she asked us if we could help her go a full time paramedic program that went on for 15 months. She passed the NYS paramedic exam and shes been working per diem at 3 different organizations. Last week she worked 102 hours between all of them. Needless to say we didnt see much of her last week except for her coming home to shower and grab a different uniform.
Since shes been doing this shes been on countless calls. Shooting victims, car accidents. Even riding through the woods in a UTV with another medic during a large brush fire in case a firefighter suffered an injury
Last night she worked from midnight to 6 AM. Early this morning she had to respond to a cardic arrest. My daughter and the EMT with her revived the woman and transported her to the local ER. Her first save. I guess you folks can tell Im really proud of her. I think shes found her calling.

Raise them well and watch great things happen.

as a parent I can't imagine being more proud of her,she must have a good role model or two in her life
Thanks for the kind words. When she was a senior in HS she had no real idea of what she wanted to do. My wife was an ER RN for 30 years. My son (now 31) got into an x ray tech program at the local hospital. Same place my wife worked. He was also unsure where he wanted to go as far as a career until my wife talked him into job shadowing a radiology tech for a day. He loves his job and makes fantastic money. Just before he got married he talked his wife into applying to the same program. Two year course. Now shes doing MRIs and CTs. Again, making great money.
When my daughter graduated HS she went to the local community college. Not much happening in our podunk town for young people so I told her to join the local ambulance. Instead of sitting around bored at least she could give back to the community. Once she started she was hooked. Shes told us she would like to get into a PA program eventually. Time will tell.
