See if you can find your build sheet... what may or may not remain of it.
Most often they're under the rear seat cushion, but can also be under the carpet, on top of the headliner, or under the front seats. Of course, it might also be gone.
Here's a couple quick tips for you.
If there is an aluminum tag on the housing cover that reads "Use limited slip diff. lube only" or something like that, it's a posi. That's the easiest, though sometimes the tags are gone.
Another way is to jack up the rear of the car, so that both rear tires are off the ground. Then, grab one of the wheels and spin it. If the other wheel moves the same direction, it's a posi rear. If the other wheel moves in the opposite direction, than it's an open rear.
To get a rough estimate of your gears, with the car still jacked up and in neutral, mark a spot on your pinion. Spin a tire slowly and count how many times the pinion spins for one full rotation of the wheel.
Example: If the pinion rotates in between 2-1/2 and 3 times, it's probably in the neighborhood of a 2.73. If the pinion rotates say, close to 3-1/2 times, it would probably be about a 3.42... See what I mean? This is just a quick guesstimate, but it's fairly accurate, and easier than taking the cover off and counting teeth.
