78 camino daily driver....lights and radio come on but when you turn key to crank it no solenoid click or engaging and lights don't dim. I have cleaned the battery posts and checked wires at the battery side of things. Only thing I think is maybe a loose wire on the starter? Any and all suggestions welcome. Thanks in advance.
i had the same problem with my pick up a few weeks ago.i did the same as you with no luck.it end up being the small wire that goes to the solenoid.had to replace it. also could be a bad solenoid .

Over the years and through different GM cars I've had both of those situations.
This probably isn't it but since you're already going to be down there you might want to check how much voltage you're getting to the solenoid too. Corrosion can start from either end and give you a bad time.
One of the first things I do on my cars when I get them is build new battery cables and make new grounds no matter how new they look.
