Car wont idle. Stalls.

Hey guys whats up? I know this is a G body site but im havin problems with our 91 caprice.
It doesnt idle it just stalls unless u hold the gas alittle. Blows alittle white smoke while running. And you have to drive double footed at stop signs or lights to keep it running.
The motors a 5.0 (305) Trottle body injection (TBI). Runs great other than that. We already changed fuel filter.
Any ideas plz? 🙂

Have you replaced the temp sender for the ECM? On TBI engines they are known to corrode from the inside from moisture.

Pull the computer codes, and see if there are any stored. A stuck IAC valve will cause it not to idle a well.

My grandma has an 87 g20 van that was doing the same thing. Would idle rough and die at intersections. Replaced the egr valve and it fixed it. Runs really strong now.

thanks for the advice man i got a good egr for in the shed il try that. I feel bad for that caprice its sat since august lol ive just had a bunch of projects in the way lol
