CUTLASS Carb high idle stuck

Was wondering if someone knew as to why my 86 Cutlass Supreme would jump into a high rev while driving?...
So far it happened twice and the wife freaked our

Could be a vacuum leak causing a lean surge.

I have also seen a rotted out hot air tube in the manifold cause this. The choke coil or gummed up linkage is more likely. Good carb cleaner then a lubricant works the best for sticking linkage.
