center bolt heads

this may be a silly question but i have a 350 chevy small block out of an 88 school bus. how do i identify center bolt heads because someone told me they were available in that year but he said they were junk and im just curious.

Look to see if the valve cover bolts through the center to the head or around the outside.
 
ok it bolts around the outside.i guess that means its not center bolt? my valvecovers fit my stock 79 chevy 350
 
Those are not centerbolt(or TBI) heads. It was not not uncommon for GM to run the older style engine for a year or two after a significant change was made in the heavier vehicles such as ambulances and buses.
