Just wondering (extreme longshot) if anyone has ever used a "hotter" spark plug in their '86+ Olds 307 powered car before. The stock type spark plug is a Champion 89 (copper resistor), or 3071 as a platinum plug. Looking at the heat range chart, the 431 is on the "hot" end, whereas the 89 the car is supposed to take is somewhere in the middle.
Assuming this would still sort of apply to other Olds engines, although the earlier 307's take a different plug. Not sure about 350's etc.
What I'm trying to figure out is if the hotter plugs gel with these engines, particularly the later swirl port ones. The car is stock, but is rich and runs (ran) better with the timing advanced until after quite a bit of driving the 89's seemed to get overheated.
