Okay, after being disappointed with putting a Flowmaster original 40 series on my car thinking of just buying another 40 series and then buying headers and running true duals. cheapest way to do this? with using the 40 series I already have and buying another one. I don't know if I wanna try to just buy a aftermarket cat and see how it sounds then or just do true duals now. Also kinda off topic question but do I necessarily need true duals for headers? or would having headers without true duals be pointless with a stock exhaust and if I get duals I should definitely get headers too right?

should I get the pypes X pipe, not the kit, and have him add additional piping or if it's possibly on g bodies to just run to pipes straight back (not sure on clearance issues and whatnot) with my cats and then my mufflers and just have them exit out the side after the rear wheels? Yes I know I need the transmission crossmember modified/cut for duals. and not necessarily the cheapest but not dropping $1,000 on a kit lol.

\also do I need 2 cats? or will I be good with one?

if your getting headers dont leave stock exhaust.i would jus get 2.5 run how you want as a true dual setup.the x pype well im not sure bout it lol.you will love the sound adding headers.i dont know much outside of elcos so i cant help on if you will run into problems fittin the pipe

My 79 el camino has 350 and stock exhaust manifolds with true dual 40 series flowmasters and is 21/4 inch it sounds pretty good cost me about 350$ to do all .

I have this up for sale. If you have a th350 or the th200 three speeds the passenger side pipe goes over the passenger side do the crossmember so no need to modify. It sounded great but I am going to get 2004r so this won't work for me.

you can do a G-force crossmember and Pypes complete exhaust for under a $1000. did it to my car 2 summers ago. i had a bent up 2 1/2 system before, i cannot believe the power i got from the pypes kit and i am running their mufflers.

dont waste the money on the x pipe unless it comes with the kit, it really is not needed unless you have a hard core performance engine. the way i have ran the exhaust in the past and the way i preffer "personally" is to run a g body shorty header and run both pipes down the passenger side. that requires the drivers side pipe to wrap under the oil pan. doing this makes it so you do not need a aftermarket crossmember and there is no clearance issues if you lower or bag the car. i paid around 100 for my headers and i had a set of 40 series laying around and paid around 200 to the local shop to pipe it with 2 1/2" pipes out the back. i am not sure if you have to have cats in your area, that changes things a bit.... in my area we have no smog b.s. to deal with

An X pipe will take out some of the raspy sound. I would keep the true duals to the back.

dude... your on the island. Where are you having the exhaust done?

Jegs has a cheap xmember for duals. depending on how big of exhaust your going.

Why are you going to or going to run cats? Ive never had a problem with the older cars. they are safety only.

an X will make it a bit more quiet thats about it.

I forget where on the island are you? Ricky at american muffler in baldwin does killer work. I got some pics of mine somewhere.
