Very simple question here lol. ok so i picked up an edelbrock 750cfm yesterday for free and plan on using it on the buick when i get it wrapped up. Tore it down for a rebuild this afternoon and have it soaking. yeah yeah yeah i know get to the point lol. so she is a manual choke model. so should i fork over the $55 for the electric choke kit or should i just run the $15 cable kit into the passenger compartment and keep it manual? Like i said its a simple question lol

I'd go for the electric.
Not that it's better, but because you will be able to set it, then forget it.

My vote would be manual. Does it really bother you that you might have to close it with your hand for a min? It was 4 degrees the other night and I had to start my truck that hadn't been fired in about 2 months. It has a manual choke. Closed the choke, fired up, let it idle for about a min and opened it and she idled just fine.

I agree with jmt455. A good working electric choke is a beautiful thing. I haven't even SEEN a manual choke since I drove a Deuce-and-a-Half.

the thought of having to choke it doesnt bother me at all. just figuring out what the smartest move is lol. i know with a manual choke you dont have to worry about adjusting it or it failing lol.

Both are reliable. If 55 bucks is worth it go that route but to me id just spend 15.

I have used them both and in the summer I like the manual choke because I can manual close the choke and open it when the car and I are ready and not have the motor on high idle wile the motor warms up.

another note is she will be a weekend warrior. by no means a daily lol. thats why i have the truck lol plus it has ac

I've always had the choke wired open on mine. I've also drove it to work on a daily basis, on third shift all the way into December. Never bothered me a bit to sit in it for a minute and keep it running.

I like manual chokes myself. I even converted the Quadrajet on the old 305 to manual. The new engine has an electric (Edelbrock), but I plan to put a manual one on there too.
