Ok so i went to some salvageyards today and in one i found a cutlass with bucket seats that had the chrome side trim that covers the mechanism that allows the seat to lean forward and back. My question is how rare is the buckets with the chrome trim and should i have grabbed it... someone pretty much took the seats apart, but didn't take any of the pieces as best as i can tell. i still don't understand that but whatever. just wondering if i should go back tomorrow and grab the pieces or the entire seats?

The chrome pieces are in high demand because they always break, it's not that they're rare. Rare to find good, unbroken ones? You betcha. These pieces are specific to the olds style high back reclining bucket seats. What were those seats like ? Nice? If they're in good condition with no to minimal tears & are cheap, you better grab them! Gbody buckets in nice shape can be hard to find. You can ripped up cores pretty easily tho.

If any of the screws that hold them on are good & not rusted up..you might grab those too. If so, contact Bruce Compton on here, he needs some. I sold him some chrome pieces & he needed some screws too, but my extras were rusted up.

i'm not sure if the screws were there, as i said somebody took the seats apart and i mean they took the whole damn seat apart, just about every piece of the seats was just laying in the car.... makes no sense ! the trim was already taken off, nothing broken just removed and left laying there :wtf:

Maybe they just got the reclining mechanisms? Were seats nice too?

the seat covers had seen better days but there were NO gouges or anything like that. they looked like they could be nice if reupolstered... i think the drivers seat was electric now that i think about it.

I'd atleast grab the elect motor & chrome trim. Might as well get it all I suppose, seats & all..they prob wouldn't charge u that much more

well i really have no use for any of it since i just put some grand am buckets in my cutlass, so unless someone here needs them i may have to let them go to the crusher as much as i hate to do that since i know they are getting hard to find i just don't have the money to spend and just sit on stuff right now since this is our slow season at work money is tight 🙁

Thanks for thinking of me Evan but I found some screws that work fine. Another thing that you all should think of, is that if the car that the buckets are in is headed to the crusher you should try to cut the parts of the floorboard out that the seat attaches too. It is kind of a pain to put bucket seats where a bench seat is without the floor pieces. It can be done, but much easier with the bucket floor parts.
