I was really considering removing the chrome trim along the bottom of my Cutty along with the door bumper strip things. I'm not sure what the condition is behind the chrome, it's been on there for 28 years, lol.

Any chance I can do this without making my Cutty..."ugly"?

Well, there's about a 99% chance that it's rusty behind it. That, and when you remove the trim, there will be the little mounting studs left behind.
It might be a good idea just to leave it on.

But if you do want to take it off, do some thourough inspecting all around the pieces to see if you can find any clues first. Look along the bottoms of your doors especially, as well as the area behind your rear tires.

If you're careful and don't break any clips when you remove it, and it looks like *ss, just clean as much as you can behind it and then put the trim back on.

One of the front chrome pieces fell of and behind it wasn't bad at all and I took the other off (looked weird with it still on) and it was fine as well.

The car is pretty much rust free, at least from what I can see. One of the chrome pieces is coming off a bit, so I can probably just take a flashlight and check behind it to see if it's even a good idea to try.
