At first i thought it was something i had in the trunk that was rolling around back there when i accelerated but then it started to be noticeable at idle so i knew it couldnt be that, but if i am just idling with my foot on the brake in drive it gets pretty loud now but if i put it in neutral or park it will stop. What could this be?

I dont know what a clammoring rickety noise is, but I will take a guess. Is the exhaust loose?

one of the exhaust pipes dangles a little bit but i dont think that is what it is, it sounds just like a basketball or something rolling around in the trunk (all that is back there is a jack and a spare tire)

I'd lean towards exhaust too. Or possibly loose torque converter bolts. But that's more of a ticking.

I say exhaust too. I had similar things happen before, and it was the exhaust just barely rubbing or vibrating against something under the car.

it could be a loose baffle in the muffler or bad internals in the cat or even that broke in the cat and traveled to the rear of the exhaust. try and get under the car and hit the exhaust along the length to recreate the sound.
