I swapped a SBC into my '80 Malibu with NO PROBLEMS. I had to buy the Motor mounts that bolted to the Frame and I had to buy the BRACKETS that bolted to the motor.

QUESTION: For future reference which of these parts is correctly referred to as the actual "clamshell"? Simply put, does the clamshell bolt to the Frame or does it bolt to the Motor? and:

Why is it referred to as a clamshell? I gotsta know!!!!

the clamshell is the 2 pieces that fit around the rubber/poly piece and bolt to the frame, this is also what's considered the motor mount. the engine mount bracket is the part that bolts to the block. this is on chevy motors. IIRC some of the BOP motors had it sort of reversed.
