I have a clunking noise on the front of my 79 wagon, I have tried to narrow it down , by changing ball joints upper and lower installing new shocks, and sway bar end links. It only occurs sporadically, ironically not over bumps where you would think it would be very noticeable, it feels like maybe an intermediate shaft?? I am new to the Gbody scene so I never had to deal with that issue (actually I really don't know what that does still). I also thought maybe it could be a loose body panel but it's not any ideas???

Check your center link

Could be a bad body mount bushing.

when does it occur?

Ok guys I figured it out I have a bad inner tie rod on the driver side!! Whew......
