So for my 403engine build im stuck between a rock and a hard place. To keep it simple I want to enlarge connecting rod wrist pin slides just on the rod by .053. Thoughts? All replies welcome just mind it's just a thought as an alternative to buying custom pistons and breaking the bank and I understand the risks but just for now know it's only a thought. And I did talk to the machinist and he was on the fence opnion wise so I turn to the internet.

I guess I'm confused as to how enlarging the pin hole would keep you from having to buy a custom piston. Are you doing this to bush the end of the rod for a floating piston?, if so that is common practice on low power street motors. On Olds stuff however I would turn the crank down and use a Chevy rod, you can by a bushed Chevy rod for pretty cheap, hell I almost did it with my 260 before I found a NOS set of .030 over stock pistons

That's the idea. I want to cut the crank to make a stroker engine and put the chevy rods on there but the 403screams piston wrist pins are a bit bigger so I want to open up the chevy rod to accept the 403 wrist pin. Unless there's a better alternative or I'm looking at the wrong rods for the job?

Ok got ya, I wouldn't have a problem doing that if it was my motor. That's actually a good idea to use the turning of the crank to change the stroke of the motor some, sounds like you have a competent machine shop so doing the bushing and setting the pin clearance should be well within their talent range I would think
