Well after all of the work, the cutlass is running pretty well. fluids are all good, except for a transmission fluid leak, i was over full but it stopped and im at add quart, maybe it was over flowing? and theres also a car problem, theres quite a cough in the pedal, and if i punch it it will pop. ive been over the timing and tuned the carb countless times. i believe i need a new carb or it needs to be rebuilt. but other than that its running awesome, and it sounds great. but daily use is showing some wear and tear, some panels are scratched and areas are sort of fading. im thinking about taking it off the road, and getting a different daily driver, but dont worry its not goin anywhere. my friends camaro has a worked 305 w/ a huge cam, its pretty quick. nice big fat tires on the back, but it needs paint.

Your problem with the pop sounds to me like an exhaust leak in the manifolds (headers) or a bad air injection check valve. I capped off my air injection check valves using heater core bypass cups and hose clamps to fix my problem. What is happening (if that is your problem) is that air is getting sucked into the engine through the exhaust and diluting the mixture, causing it to run dead lean.

that problem was in the back of my mind. one day it happened and i pulled over right away, and there was smoke coming from one of the header tubes against the block, and thats what happened then. but since then i replaced the gaskets and doubled up on them, and tighten them down every couple hundred miles.

looks real nice. i have interior jealousy.

sexy interior! the black paint, black wheels and interior make the car!

haha nope not yet, still sitting exactly where you dropped it. im moving in the next couple of months, so im just waiting to do it there, in a garage.
