guys, 78 Monte restoration- my interior panels are cracked where they surround the rear 1/4 Windows, etc... How have you fixed these? Are they even available new? Any advice welcomed- thanks
Thanks- I saw that after I posted when googled them. Think since I have a little time I'm going to fiberglass them from the back, then plastic/filler weld front sides, then heat grain the pattern back in. If I can't get it close, then I'll buy new..
I have bonded plastics with an adhesive called Welder and it adheres well to metals as well as plastic so for plastics I use thin aluminum as the reinforcement on the backside of the plastic and glue it across the crack and clamp it and let it set, I just did a 78' Camaro console last year with multiple cracks and from the outside it looks like new and the repair is strong and it eventually will end up in the Regal.
