I picked up a set of chrome valve covers from a fellow forum member for my olds 350. Theres a slight problem with them though, they have no baffles. I dont really want to hack up my other set to get the baffles out, and plus, I dont know if tack-welding them to the chrome ones will hurt the chrome.
So I want to plug the holes in the valve covers. I'm gonna order these http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SPE-1738/ to plug the holes. should give a better look than black rubber plugs.
I obviously need a breather, and i was wondering if any of you guys have/know (part #?) of one that goes on top of the oil filler tube. I found a custom one http://fcrparts.com/New_FCR_Parts.html (bottom of the page) and was thinking I could make something like it. I was thinking of sectioning mine and re-welding it to shorten it anyways, so i could possibly make my own...
Lastly, i'm going to need the PCV valve on the intake somewhere. I've done some reading, and know the 70-72 w-30's had a provision for it right behind the water neck, over to the pass. side. What other place can i tap into the crankcase? I'm also very leery about drilling into the crankcase, won't metal chips get in the system?
I also read that PCV valves are made to work upright, in my case, it will be horizontal. What PCV should i use?
Sorry for the book
