I have a 87 442 with a stock 72 400 sbc and turbo 350 transmission under the hood. I am having problems with it overheating. I havent drove it long ways since motor install. I have a 4 row radiator it it, a fel pro (non-stick) thrmostat (160). I have not changed water pump yet but it ran fine with the water pump thats on it before (replaced two years ago) i pulled it from the original car. I was wondering if u guys could help me out.

G BODY LOVER 15th cutlass and only 25!

(400 sbc heads have factory steams hole already drilled

in what conditions does it overheat? idle/stuck in traffic, cruising, or WOT? is there anything that gets the temps down?
does the lower radiator hose have a spring in it?

It gets hot if i drive it maybe ten minutes down the strreet and back home and top hose gets hot when i let it idle for about 15 minutes. I havent found anything to get temps down other then cutting off car and what do u mean by the lower radiator hose having a spring on it

many lower hoses have a spring inside them which i guess prevents them from collapsing so if yours doesnt have a spring it could be collapsing and therefore not circulating coolant

what kind of fans? if electric, are they working?
is that 10min from a cold start? or some idling to warm up first? if you let her idle will it overheat?
do you remember if the t-stat had a bypass hole in it?
