When I was a kid in the early 1980s I lived just a couple hundred yards from our small town police station. My best friend and I used to hang out there sometimes and we got to know all the cops and the chief. The department was small. I remember they had Dodge Monaco police units (think Dukes of Hazard).
Then, in about 1983 it was time to get a new unit and they got a Cutlass sedan! I vividly remember seeing it for the first time and even sitting in it. The giant light bar on the roof looked so out-of-place. It was a 307 and all of the officers complained that it was under powered. The fact that the rear windows were fixed didn't seem to bother them when they had to transport an offender to county jail.
I never saw another. I Googled this and came up empty. The department was all Dodge Diplomats by the time I moved away.
